Raptors Picture

Obviously these are not based off of GW Raptor models for Chaos. I’m not a big fan of how those look and metal models are much harder to work with. I built my Raptors from a Space Marine assult squad with additional bitz from a CSM box, Iron Warrior upgrade bitz and Chaos Knights (fantasy range).

I have decided to use the GW Iron Warrior shoulder pads for my entire army both because I like the looks of them and I don’t like using decals.

Captain Nestryx Pictures are here

This is Captian Nestryx, commander of the assult forces of the 14th Grand Company. He marches to war in his Terminator Armour and dual lightning claws.

Iron Warrior Captian Nestryx

As for conversion work on this model I used the Chaos Lord in Terminator Armour kit and used the two lightning claws in the box. I didn’t like the position of the claws so I cut each hand at the wrist, turned is slightly and re-glued. To make this work I had to redo the power cables running to each hand. I made the new cables out of 5 pieces of plastic rod and wrapped with a thin strip of green stuff.

I also used a head from the Iron Warriors upgrade bitz set. This required some sanding of the head and armour opening to allow it to fit, but it has a great result.

The base is one of the ones included in GW’s basing kit. It is the same size as the normal base for Terminators so I just used it instead.

Land Raider Pictures

Iron Warriors Land Raider

Iron Warriors Land Raider

The Land Raider was a blast to put together and paint, it has so many  great details inside and out. The lascannon sponsons are magnetized to the hull so I could take them off. I painted the inside of the vehicle before gluing the top section on:

The side access doors were also magnetized to show off the inside.

There was very little modifications to the actual model other than adding some Chaos spiky bits and replacing the lascannon tips with the dragon heads.

Dreadnought pictures are here as well

This dreadnought was originally from the Assult on Black Reach box set from GW but with some modifications. The most obvious is the head. I cut out the front plate and modified one of the masks from the Defilier kit. The wires hanging below are an assortment of guitar strings and small gauge wire. The another modification made is the added trim and stars. This was made with thin plasti-card strips cut to length and glued down.

Baneblade Pictures Are Here

So I finally got around to taking pictures of my finished models to post up here. So without further ado, my 14th Grand Company’s Baneblade:

The skull icon on the tank’s front left is from the Dark Elf warrior sprue. I have been using this as my army icon badge.

Battle Report – IW vs Death Guard

Yesterday I played one of my buddies at the local GW store to a 1750 point game, my Iron Warriors versus his Death Guard.  The setup was spearhead with the always-a-tie mission of capture and control.

I used the 1750 pt list here. He brought to the table two units of Plague Marines, Land Raider full of Terminators and a Terminator Lord, a Greater Demon, 20 strong unit of lesser demons, 2 Oblitorators and a Defiler with 2 close combat weapons.

All in all this was a very crummy game for both of us as the dice never seemed to work out. My tanks took multiple las-cannon shots that either failed to glace/penetrate or simple caused crew shaken. A nice demolisher shot to his terminators only wounded one (yes four 1s were rolled). My multi-melta dreadnought was charged by his defiler but neither did anything short of crew shaken and a lost limb on the defiler (bringing it down to only 4 s10 attacks!).

The game ended at the end of turn 5 with my objective under the control of his defiler (with only 1 cc arm now!) and the greater demon. His objective was contested with his last remaining plague marines holding off my khorne berserkers and my unit of troops in the rhino on their way to help out. If the game lasted an additional turn i may have been able to wipe out his last troop unit and claim his objective for the win. As it is, the game was yet another tie.

Baneblade is built!

Even though I had plenty of other units to build and paint to even field a full 1750pt game I was too excited for the Baneblade. I spent many a hour putting this massive and amazing kit together. It was the little details that really made this model shine, the gun barrels are already hollow (no drilling out needed), each panel is covered in rivets, hatch access points and unfortunately Aquillas. I spent about half my time scraping of this symbols of the corpse fool and replacing them with Chaos stars and army markings.

I did run into one issue, the right side of the main turret was missing from the box. I went back the GW store and they generously opened a new box and gave me the missing piece (I think they are going to build a Skull Hamma’ from the rest of it).

Once I get some more details and Chaos add-ons I will post some pictures!

The War Smith has arrived and brought a (big) friend

Yesterday was my birthday and my wonderful wife gifted me with two great presents for the 14th GC.  The first is the Chaos Lord on Juggernaut (fantasy model) which I will be converting into my War Smith (look for WIP posts in the time to come). If this wasn’t awesome enough she also presented me with my very own Bane Blade to demonstrate the 14th’s great power.

Although I have plenty on my to-do list for the army, both of these models may have just out placed them all.

1750 Pt Army List

While waiting to get some pictures up of my done minis I thought I could post my current army list for 1750 point games.

  • Chaos Lord in terminator armor, dual lightning claws, mark or Khorne. This gives him base 5 attacks with strength 5 on the charge.
  • Khorne Berserkers x8 with Aspiring Champion with power weapon, plasma pistol, and melta bomb; two berserkers with plasma pistols.
  • Chaos Space Marines x10 with Aspiring Champion with power fist and plasma pistol; two marines with plasma guns.
  • Rhino with combi-weapon.
  • Chaos Space Marines x10 with Aspiring Champion with power fist and plasma pistol; two marines with melta-guns.
  • Raptors x5 with Aspiring Champion with power fist and plasma pistol; two raptors with plasma pistols.
  • Dreadnought with multi-melta and heavy flamer
  • Dreadnought with plasma cannon and heavy flamer
  • Land Raider
  • Obliterator
  • Vindicator, combi-bolter, daemonic possession

Basic idea is I wanted a fast and hard hitting army. I view this as the companies main strike force, the spear tip of the siege.

Gamewise I mount the lord and berzerkers in the land raider to take any objectives the enemy may have. I can place it rhino with troops to either strike at the enemy objectives or protect my own. The dreads I often leave in reserve and bring them in where needed, giving me gaurenteed control their first turn on the table.

More forces join the army

I have just finished painting my raptors and dreadnought. As soon as I finish my mini board I will start post pictures of my finished minis and work in progress.
