Chaos Titan Update (With Pictures)

So here are the promised pictures of my WIP Chaos Warhound Titan. The plans were from the bwc-archive Yahoo Group. I’ve been using various thicknesses of plastic card, foam board and plastic strips. I’ve done some sketching on the model with a Sharpie to get an idea of markings and adjustments to the model.

So far it is really sturdy (and heavy…) so I’m not too worried about it getting knocked around in a game (unlike a paper version).

The back took some work as the paper templates had nothing on the back side. I liked the look of the pipes on the Forge World model and imitated that. Also the vents were built one fin at a time because I couldn’t find anything that fit correctly.

The engine top is from the Manufactorium set cut down to fit inside. This idea was from a project being done on dakka dakka. The wire grid is wielded metal fencing.

The top is simply set into place so I can easily access the engine when I start painting.

Under the shoulders I created a simple mounting for the arms. This is just a PVC pipe joiner with a magnet glued at the end and capped. The arms will them have the matching magnet in a pipe fitting that goes around this stub.

Although the guns would be a fun next step I think it would be best to start building up the feet and legs so this thing can at least stand. I’m still unsure what I’m going to do for the head, I want to do some deamon looking head, but unsure how I would build that (my sculpting isn’t so great). Any ideas would be welcomed!

I would juste use the normal Head (Easy form) with the rather aggressive look of the original model. It simply looks better (http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/index.php?sh…)How did bult this part so far? I want to build a plastic warhound myself but I have problems with the nails and those srips. Did you just buy them? And how do you glue everything together? It looks a little like cement or something …

Most of the model is made out of a thicker plastic sheet cut to the right shapes. I also bought various strips of plastic so I wouldn't have to worry about cutting parallel lines. By nails are you meaning the rivet heads? Those were made using a leather punch and gluing the resulting circle onto the plastic strip. In the future I think the smaller rivets will be made by using Dave Taylor's trick (http://davetaylorminiatures.blogspot.com/2009/0…). I mostly used plastic glue except on the thicker plastic because it was a different material and wouldn't react with the glue. I did use some air-hardening clay to fill in some joints, that may be the cement that you are seeing.I hope this answered your questions and post a link to your own titan!

I would have to order some Plastic card and since I'm going abroad for more than a month so it's just easier to start when I'm back :D But still can I post some pictures of my titan. I have already build one. It is made of normal card but is surprisingly robust (at least it stands without help after i fillded the feet with cement ^^ ) http://img139.imageshack.us/gal.php?g=titan1.jpgI want to build a plastic one because it would be more authentic as the card is pretty thin and would look horrible after beeing painted.

Hey man I love your blog and am a big fan of your painting skills, I was just going back through the previous years posts and found this! Amazing! Any chance you’d be able to email me the titan plans if you still have them?

Thanks Jack! Unfortunately this project has been collecting dust in my closet the past year, I guess it is time to break it back out and finish it!

The plans can be found on the BWC-Archive page in Yahoo’s Groups
